* New Zealand have very good recent record in ODI format. They played their previous ODI series against the same opponent Sri Lanka two months ago at their home and clean sweeped the Sri Lanka by 4-0.
* Ross Taylor was very exceptional in that ODI series against Sri Lanka and scored 342 runs in the four ODIs match with the help of One century and three half centuries. If we analyse the recent form of Ross Taylor, then it is found that Ross Taylor is on the peak in his batting during the las the last one year that will be very positive sign for New Zealand in this mega events.
* Martin Guptill, Skipper Kane Williamson and star all rounder James Neesham had also looked in very good touch with bat in their previous series against Sri Lanka. Martin Guptil scored 240 runs in the series including two centuries while, Kane Williamson and James Neesham registered two half centuries each. James Neesham did bowl well in that series. His all round performance might create different between both teams.
* Tim Southee and Trent Boult were very exceptional with ball in the previous ODI Series against Sri Lanka. Both picked wickets in the all matches and looked very consistent while, Matt Henry picked five wickets in the Ist ODI of that series.
* New Zealand's brilliant form was seen in the World Cup warm Up matches too. They defeated to India in the Ist Warm up match very easily by 6 wickets. Trent Boult and James Neesham were very exceptional with ball and picked up 4 and 3 wickets respectively and helped to restrict India for only 179/10 in 39.2 overs in the first Innings.
* Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor continued their ODI form in the first Warm up match and scored 67 and 71 runs respectively and won the match in only 37.1 overs for the loss of four wickets.
* Although, they lost their second warm up match against Windies by 91 runs, but their batting was too good in that match. Actually, Windies putted a very huge total of 421 runs in the first Innings which was almost impossible to chase, but Kane Williamson and Young Wicket Keeper Tom Blundell lifted the innings very successfully and scored 85 and 106 runs respectively but due to very high target, New Zealand lost by 91 runs.
* Trent Boult was very exceptional with ball in the both warm up matches and picked up four wickets in each match i.e He claimed total eight wickets in both warm up match. His recent form might be very useful the Kiwis.

* James Neesham and Mitchell Santner will be next batsmen. James Neesham has very good ODI recent record and registered two half centuries against Sri Lanka in the previous ODI Series two month ago. He is a very good medium pacer too. Mitchell Santner is a very good left arm spinner and also a good batter of lower order.
* Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Matt Henry and James Neesham will lead the pace attack along with Colin Munro. Trent Boult and James Neesham have made much impact in the Warm up matches.
* Mitchell Santner will be only spinner.
* Sri Lanka's Cricket team has been struggling in all three format of Cricket since the last few years. They have not played not any remarkable innings in the ODI series which can describe for you.
* They flopped totally in their previous ODI Series against New Zealand in New Zealand and lost their all ODIs matches on that tour. However, their some batsmen played few remarkable innings. All rounder Thisara Perera played one or two handy knock on that tour and registered a very beautiful hundred off very less ball. Kusal Mendis was also looked in good touch in that series.
* Sri Lanka's very recent tour of South Africa also brought a lot of disappointment for them. However, they won the first Test match on the basis of tremendous batting of Kusal Perera. after that, Sri Lanka did not won any matches on this tour of South Africa.
* However, Kusal Mendis's batting was very exceptional in the ODI on this tour. He was the only batsman who faced the South African pace attack very nicely.
* Dhananjaya De Silva and Isuru Udana have also made some impact on this tour. Dhananjaya de Silva's spin bowling was very effective in the South Africa. He was the only Sri Lankan bowler who picked the wickets in the all ODI matches on this tour, While Isuru Udana played a beautiful innings of half century in the lower order.
* Sri Lanka's poor performance is continued in the World Cup and they lost their both warm up matches. They lost the first Warm up match against South Africa by 87 runs. In that match, Sri Lanka did not play their 50 overs quota and bowled out in only 42.3 overs for 251 runs while they were chasing 339 runs target. Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews looked in very good touch and scored 87 and 64 runs respectively. Kusal Mendis also looked in good touch, but could not capitalize his start into a big knock. Nuwan Pradeep and S Lakmal picked two wickets each in that match against South Africa.
* They lost their second Warm up match against Australia by 5 wickets. After batting first, Sri Lanka putted 239/8 in the first innings. Lahiru Thirimanne registered a brilliant half century with scored 56 runs, but he was not supported by any batsmen except Dhananjaya de Silva, who scored 43 runs in the middle order and helped to reach the total at 239 runs.
* But, their bowlers could not defend the total and lost by 5 wickets. J Vandersay picked up two wickets while N Pradeep, Dhananjaya de Silva and Milinda Siriwardana picked up one wickets each.
