NEWS & ANALYSIS

BANGLADESH (BAN)

* After winning their opening match against South Africa, Bangladesh lost their last both matches and will hope to bounce back in their next match against Sri Lanka.

* They lost their last match against England by huge 106 runs.

* Bangladesh's bowlers looked slightly weak in the previous match and spent a lot of runs, for which England putted a very huge total of 386/6 in the first innings. Mohammad Saifuddin and Mehidy Hasan picked two wickets while, Skipper M Mortaza and Mustafizur Rahman picked up one wickets each.

* Except Shakib Al Hasan, who made a brilliant century with scored 121 runs off 119 deliveries, and Mushfiqur Rahim (44), none of other Bangladesh's batsmen showed their determination in batting.

* Bangladesh's batting has no depth. However, their have almost six proper batsmen but Only Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim looked consistent in batting. Their openers's failure in the last both matches went them on back foot. Both Openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar need to spend more time on the crease for good start.

* If we analyse the Bangladesh's batting, then Some gaps have been detected. Soumya Sarkar has been very exceptional with bat but Bangladesh's opening pair Tamim Iqbal and S Sarkar was not able to provide good start in the all previous matches of this tournament, which need to improve in the next match.

* Their current pace attack is looking one dimensional. None of any pacers likes of Mortaza, Saifuddin and M Rahman can bowl 140 Km/h plus. All these trio have able to bowl 130 to 135 km/h which is not so effective on the bouncy English wickets. However, they have a quick Rubel Hossain in the squad who can provide some extra pace and bounce and might be much effective in comparison then other pacers.

* Bangladesh have not very good record against Sri Lanka. They won only two matches in the last five against Sri Lanka. Mushfiqur Rahim has very good recent record against Sri Lanka with registered One century and One half century in the last five matches. In other batsmen, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah also registered one half century against Bangladesh in the last five ODIs.

* R Hossain may be included into the playing XI in place of Mossadek Hossain.

* Injured/Unavailable:- None

* Key Players :- Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Musfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, M Saifuddin, M Rahman

BAN Line Ups

* Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar are expecting to open the innings. Both are very good batsmen and able to provide good start. Soumya Sarkar has good recent form.

* All rounder Shakib Al Hasan will bat No 03. He registered a brilliant century in the previous match.

* Wicket Keeper Musfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun will bat at No 04 and 05. Mushfiqur Rahim has registered one half century in this tournament.

* Mahmudullah and Mohammad Saifuddin will be next batsmen at No 06 and 07. Mahmudullah is a very good batsman of middle order.

* Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin will lead the pace attack along with may be Rubel Hossain.

* Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan will lead the spin attack.

Sri Lanka (SL)

* After loosing their opening match against New Zealand by 10 wickets, Sri Lanka won their second match against Afghanistan by 34 runs as per D/L Method. While, Their previous match against Pakistan has been abandoned without bowled any bowl due to rain.

* Although, Sri Lanka won their last match against Afghanistan, but their batting did not looked in good touch again in this match and they bowled out for only 201 runs in 36.5 Overs in the first Innings.

* Except Kusal Perera, who scored brilliant 78 runs, none of other batsmen showed their determination in batting. However, Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne (30) and Lahiru Thirimanne (25) got their start but could not capitalise it into the big knock.

* Sri Lanka's middle order batting is the main issue for them. Opener Dimuth Karunaratne who scored brilliant half century in the opening match and Kusal Perera who was very exceptional with bat in the previous match, none of other batsmen looked in good touch which is not the good sign for them in the upcoming matches.

* Continue failure of Kusal Mendis and Veteran Angelo Mathews in middle order is the very serious cause for them. Sri Lanka's middle order is mostly depend on these duo batsmen. If Sri Lanka want to chase or Put a handy total then these duo will have to perform solid in middle order Otherwise they can not turn the result in their favour against the good looking Bangladesh.

* Thisara Perera, who has the most average in batting during the last two years for Sri Lanka, has been also failed to bat in the both matches.

* Overall, it is observed that, After batting at No 03 i.e Kusal Perera, none of any Sri Lanka's batsman has good form.

* Sri Lanka have good recent record against Bangladesh. They won three out of last five ODI matches against Bangladesh.

* Sri Lanka did not won any match at the county Ground, Bristol. They played three matches on this ground and lost two while their previous match against England at this ground has been abandoned due to rain. Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews registered their respective half centuries in that match, but both batsmen looked very poor with bat in this tournament yet.

* Injured/Unavailable :- None

* Key Players :- Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Perera, Lahiru Thirimanne, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Lasith Malinga

SL Line Ups

* Dimuth Karunaratne and One of Lahiru Thirimanne/A Fernando will open the batting. Both are very good batsmen and able to provide a good start. Dimuth has been registered a brilliant half century in this tournament.
