NEWS & ANALYSIS

ENGLAND (ENG)

* After a very comprehensive win their opening match against South Africa, England surprised in the second match when they were defeated be Pakistan by 14 runs at Nottingham.

* English bowlers did not understand the condition of Nottingham and bowl in wrong direction. Actually, they bowled a lot of Short deliveries while, Wickets was not such bounce . Hence, Pakistan's batsmen took the advantage of opportunity and putted 348/8 in the first innings. Jofra Archer, who was the hero of the first match, was very expensive with bowl. His bowling analysis was 10-79-0. While, Chris Woakes and Mark Wood read the wickets better as comparison than Jofra Archer and Picked three and two wickets respectively. Off Spinner Moeen Ali also picked three important wickets. Moeen Ali was able to drift the ball in this match.

* Despite of two brilliant century, first was came by Joe Root (107 runs off 104 balls) and Second by Jos Buttler (103 runs off 76 deliveries), England did not won the match, because Except these duo centurion, other batsmen likes of Both openers Jonny Bairstow (32), Jason Roy(8), Skipper Eoin Morgan(9) and Ben Stokes(13) batted very poor. While, they needed to build few useful partnership for the chasing of huge total.

* However, England's almost all the batsmen have been among the runs and clicked collectively in the first match, while Except Joe Root and Jos Buttler, other batsmen failed to bat in the second match.

* England's failed to open well in the their both matches. Their opener Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow did not able to share a handy opening partnership in this mega events. Although, both are able to do that and they proved to do the same in the previous ODI Series against Pakistan in which England's top orders was on fire.

* Their opening pair need to provide good start for the better performance in the next matches, otherwise they may go in trouble again.

* England won their last match at this ground against Australia in 2018. In that match, Jason Roy registered a brilliant hundred while, Jos Buttler played a beautiful knock of 91 runs.

* Jason Roy and Jos Buttler have very good recent record at Sophia Garden, Cardiff. Jason Roy has registered one century and One half century in the previous five matches, while Jos Buttler has registered three half centuries in the previous four ODI matches at this ground.

* Mark Wood has very good bowling record at Sophia Garden, Cardiff. He picked nine wickets in the previous four matches.

BANGLADESH (BAN)

* After winning their opening match against South Africa, Bangladesh lost their last match against New Zealand by 2 wickets.

* Their batting collapsed in the second match against New Zealand and they bowled out for only 244 runs in the first innings. They did not play their 50 overs quota and bowled out in 49.2 Overs.

* Except Shakib Al Hasan who registered a brilliant half century with scored 64 runs, none of other Bangladesh's batsmen showed their determination in batting. However, few batsmen likes of Tamim Iqbal(24), Soumya Sarkar (25), Mohammad Mithun (26) and Mahmudullah (20) got their start but could not capitalise their start into a big knock. Their batting inconsistency will be very dangerous in the next match because their opposition is so strong .

* However, Bangladesh lost their last match, but their overall performance in both matches was so remarkable. They picked 8 New Zealand's wickets in the previous match which is the very good sign for their bowlers. Mehidy Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin picked up two wickets each.

* Their batting need to be performed collectively as they did in the Ist match against South Africa, Otherwise they did not turn the result in their favour.

* Some gap in the Bangladesh' batting have been detected. Soumya Sarkar has been very exceptional with bat but Bangladesh's opening pair Tamim Iqbal and S Sarkar was not able to provide good start in the both matches, which need to improve in the next match.

* The batting performance of Shakib Al Hasan, who looked very brilliant with bat in the both matches , and Mushfiqur Rahim, who also registered a brilliant half century in the opening game against South Africa will decide the Bangladesh's overall batting performance. Hence these duo will have to take more responsibility in batting. Especially, Mushfiqur Rahim will have to take more responsibility because Shakib has already performed brilliant in both matches.

* Bangladesh won their last match at Sophia Garden, Cardiff against New Zealand in 2017. In that match, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah registered brilliant centuries and Mustafizur Rahman picked up three wickets.

* Injured/Unavailable:- None

* Key Players :- Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Musfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, M Mortaza, M Rahman
