NEWS & ANALYSIS

ENGLAND (ENG)

* England are placed at the 2nd position at point table with 4 wins and 1 lose after 5 matches.

* They won their last match against Afghanistan by 150 runs.

* After batting first, England putted a very handy total of 397/6 in the first Innings. This was the highest score of this world Cup.

* In the absence of destructive Jason Roy, James Vince got chance to open the innings with Jonny Bairstow, but Vince could not provide a good start and dismissed for his individual score of 26 runs. While, His opening partner Jonny Bairstow looked very dangerous with bat and scored 90 runs.

* Jonny Bairstow was well supported by Joe Root, who scored brilliant 88 runs. But, the real knock was came through Skipper Eoin Morgan who smashed magnificent 148 runs off just 71 deliveries including 17 Sixes and 4 boundaries.

* England's bowling has been very formidable. They restricted the opposition for only 247/8 in the previous match. Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid picked up three wickets each while, Mark Wood picked two.

* However, England's bowling did very well in this tournament, but they did not pick all ten wickets of Afghanistan in the last match and that would be a questionable mark in their bowling skill. Jofra Archer is very consistent in wicket taking, Mark Wood is also consistent. But, Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett did not strike in every match which is a serious concern for them in bowling.

* Jason Roy is still injured and will not available for this match.

* Injured/Unavailable:- Jason Roy

* Key Players :- Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer

Eng Line Ups

* Jonny Bairstow and James Vince  will open the batting. Both are very attacking and able to provide a good start. J Bairstow was very exceptional with bat in the previous match.

* Joe Root and Skipper Eoin Morgan will bat at No 03 and 04. Joe Root has been very sensational with bat in this tournament so far, while Eoin Morgan registered a huge century in the previous match.

* Ben Stokes, Joss Buttler and Moeen Ali will be next batsmen at No 05, 06 and 07. Ben Stokes is a good all rounder and scored one half century in this tournament. He is a very good medium pacer too and bowl 5-6 overs in every match. Jos Buttler is a hard hitter of ball and made much impact in this tournament so far. Moeen Ali played the last match and played a cameo of 31 runs off 9 deliveries.

* Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer will be next batsmen. Both are good batter in lower middle order.

* Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes will lead the pace attack.

* Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali will lead the spin.

Sri Lanka (SL)

* Sri Lanka are placed at the sixth position at point table with one win and two loses after five matches. Their two matches have been abandoned due to rain.

* They lost their last match against Australia by 87 runs.

* Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne played a magnificent innings of 97 runs while, Kusal Mendis also scored brilliant 52 runs.

* In bowling, Dhananjaya de Silva and Isuru Udana picked up two wickets each while, Lasith Malinga picked One.

* Sri Lanka's batting is the main issues for them. Except, Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Perera, who shared a brilliant 115 runs for opening wickets in the previous match, none of other batsmen showed their determination in batting yet in this tournament. However, Except these duo, they have very strong batsmen in their batting line ups likes of Kusal Mendis, Lhiru Thirimanne and Angelo Mathews, but these batsmen are out of form.

* Kusal Mendis looked slightly good in the previous match and scored 30 runs and will hope to enhance his innings in the next match.

* Sri Lanka's bowling looked also slightly weak in this tournament. None of their bowlers looked in very good touch as well as regular striker. Only Nuwan Pradeep looked some good in the pace battery while, I Udana also picked two wickets in the previous match but his pace is not enough to create threat for batsman.

* Suranga Lakmal might be introduced in this match in place of M Siriwardana.

* Injured/Unavailable :- None

* Key Players :- Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Isuru Udana

SL Line Ups

* Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Perera will open the batting. Both are very good and inform batsmen.

* Lahiru Thirimanne and Kusal Mendis will bat at No 03 and 04. Both are talented batsmen but their current form is not good. Kusal Mendis looked in little good touch in the previous match and will hope to play a good knock in this match.

* Angelo Mathews will bat at No 05. He is very experience batsman and able to play a long innings, but failed to bat in the tournament.

* Dhananjay De Silva and Thisara Perera will be next batsmen. Thisara Perera is able to hit the ball cleanly.

* Lasith Malinga, N Pradeep and Thisara Perera will lead the pace attack along with may be Suranga Lakmal.

* Dhananjaya De Silva will lead the spin.
