NEWS & ANALYSIS

ENGLAND (ENG)

* After losing their second match against Pakistan, England came back very nicely in the previous match against Bangladesh and defeated Bangladesh by 106 runs.

* England's batting performed very well in this match and scored 386/6 in the first innings. Their opener shared first time 100 plus runs opening partnership in this tournament and putted 128 runs for the Ist wickets. Jonny Bairstow looked first time very well in this tournament and registered a brilliant half century with scored 51 runs while, Jason Roy was very exceptional with bat and registered a huge century with scored 153 runs off 121 deliveries. Jos Buttler, who got chance bat at No 04, played another beautiful innings of 64 runs. These trio helped England to put a very huge total in the first innings.

* England's pacers did very well job with bowl and restricted the Bangladesh for only 280 runs in the second innings. Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes picked up three wickets each while Mark Wood picked two.

* England's almost all the batsmen have been among the runs and need to maintain their exceptional form in this tournament for the better result. However, Jonny Bairstow registered a brilliant half century in the last match but, he could not look very comfortable. Their batsmen need to perform more collectively. In the last match, England looked in very good position in batting and they were expected to cross 400 runs. But, Except three batsmen Buttler, Roy and Bairstow, Ohter batsmen did not bat well and finally their bowlers batted in the last three overs. So, their score was below 400.

* England's batsmen will have to ready to play a lot of short delivery and well directed bouncer in this match against Windies as Windies did in their previous matches. However, English batsmen are capable to play short delivery but they need to be show more attentiveness during play the Windies Pacers's short deliveries.

* England have not good recent ODI record against Windies. Their previous ODI Series against Windies was drawn at 2-2. Eoin Morgan batted very well in this series and registered One century and two half century in the four matches. While, Jason Roy, Jos Buttler and Joe Root also registered one century each in this series. Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes also register half century in this series.

* England has very good record against Windies at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. Two matches have been played between both teams on this ground in which England won the both matches. Their last match was played at Rose Bowl in 2017 in which England Won by 9 wickets. England's both openers Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy were very exceptional with bat in this match and shared 156 runs for opening partnership. Bairstow scored 141 and Roy scored 96 runs in that match.

* England have very good record at Rose Bowl, Southampton. They did not lose any matches after 2015 on this ground. * Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy will open the batting. Both are very attacking and able to provide a good start. Both were very exceptional with bat in the last match.

* Joe Root and Eoin Morgan will bat at No 03 and 04. Joe Root is a classical batsman and able to play a handy knock. He registered a brilliant century in this tournament. While, Eoin Morgan is a big hitter of ball.He is also registered one half century in this tournament.

WINDIES (WIN)

* After a very emphatic win Over Pakistan in the first  match, Windies lost their second  match against Australia by 15 runs.  Their third as well as previous match against South Africa has been abandoned due to rain.

* Windies's bowlers did very deadly bowling in the first Innings and at one time Windies picked six Australian wickets for just 147 runs, but they lost their grab at the ending of Ist innings against the brilliant batting of Steven Smith 73(runs ) and lower order batsman Nathan Coulter Nile (92 runs) and finally, Windies got 289 runs target to win that match.

* Carlos Brathwaite has been very exceptional with ball and picked three wickets , while Oshane Thomas, Sheldon Cottrell and Andre Russell picked up two wickets each.

* Windies's batsmen did not bat very well in their previous match against Australia. Their both openers dismissed in very cheaply. While, Shai Hope, who registered a brilliant half century with scored 68 runs and Nicholas Pooran (40 runs) tried to lift the innings but could not get success to win the match. Jason Holder also registered a brilliant half century with 51 runs but his that fabulous innings was also not enough to win because other middle order batsmen likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Andre Russell did not support in batting.

* Nicholas Pooran also played a good finisher innings of 34 runs of 34 runs off just 19 deliveries.

* Windies have very strong batting line ups likes of Chris Gayle, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell who can clinch the opposition very easily with their batting.

* But, their middle order did not test during the long time. In the other words, their middle order did not help to win match in the recent time. Their most of the matches were won by fabulous performance of their top order. Shai Hope played very important role to win most of the matches during the last One year while, Chris Gayle helped to win Windies over England in limited over format when England went to Windies few month ago. Except these two batsmen, none of any batsmen played any remarkable innings that helped to win the team in recent time.

* Windies got a lot of wickets through short and bouncer deliveries and their strategy to bowl short pitch deliveries will also be seen in this match also.

* They have very strong batting line ups and only need to more consistent in batting to turn the result in their favour.

* Shai Hope has registered a brilliant half century at the Rose Bowl, Southampton in his previous match against England.

*  Windies have good ODI recent record against England. The last ODI series which was played between England and Windies has been drawn by 2-2. Chris Gayle was very exceptional in that series and registered two centuries and two half centuries. While, S Hetmyer also registered a brilliant century in that series.

*  Windis lost their last ODI match at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. Windies played that match against England in 2017, in which Windies lost that match by one sided 9 wickets. Shai Hope played a brilliant innings of 72 runs in that match.

*  Andre Russell is still injured and doubtful to play this match.

*  Shannon Gabriel may play this match in place of Kemar Roach.

* Injured/Unavailable:- Andre Russell

* Key Players :- Shai Hope, Chris Gayle,  Jason Holder, Nicholas Pooran, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas
