NEWS ANALYSIS

INDIA (IND)

* Team India will be full of confidence after winning their all played three matches. While, their One match against New Zealand has been abandoned due to rain.

* They defeated Pakistan in their previous match by 89 runs (D/L method)

* After batting first, India putted 336/5 in the first Innings. Rohit Sharma again registered a brilliant hundred with scored 140 runs off 113 deliveries. KL Rahul and Skipper Virat Kohli also registered brilliant half centuries with scored 57 and 77 runs respectively.

* Due to rain in the second Innings, the new target of 302 runs was set up for the Pakistan in 40 Overs.

* But, Indian bowlers did very well job and restricted the opponent for only 212/6 in the second Innings and thus, team India won by 86 runs as per DLS method. Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each.

* India's top three clicked collectively in the previous match again, as they did against Australia in their second match of this tournament, and the record says that if India's top three scores then team India won that match very easily and the same was happened in the previous match.

* In absence of Injured Shikhar Dhawan, who has been ruled out from this tournament, KL Rahul did very well job as an opener and helped Rohit to build first wicket partnership of 136 runs.

* * Rohit Sharma has made much impact in this tournament. He registered two centuries and One half century in the three matches so far and will hope to continue his momentum in the next match also.

* Virat Kohli has also very good form in this tournament and registered two half centuries in the last three matches.

* Vijay Shankar, who played the previous match for the position of No 04 batting, did very well job with bowl and picked two important wickets of Pakistan. His inclusion in the final XI makes the team more balance.

* However, Jasprit Bumrah did not well with bowl in this tournament. After a solid bowling in the opening match against South Africa, Jasprit looked very average in the next two matches against Australia and Pakistan respectively. He will have to pick wickets regularly in the upcoming matches for providing sharpness in the Indian Pace attack.

* There is a bad news for team India that Inform Pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar got injured during the bowling in the last match against Pakistan and might miss the next two or three matches.

* Mohammad Shami will play this match in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

* India played two ODI matches against Afghanistan and have unbeaten streak against them. India won the first match against Afghanistan by 8 wickets while, Second match that was played in Asia Cup 2018 in Dubai, has been drawn. Both teams scored 252 runs in this match. KL Rahul registered a brilliant half century in this match.

* Afghanistan could not open their winning account in this tournament so far. They lost their all five matches in a row.

* They lost their last match against England by 150 runs.

* Afghanistan's bowling looked very poor in the previous match. Except, both pacers Gulbadin Naib and Dawlat Zadran who picked three wickets each, none of their bowlers looked in the good touch. Their spin attack, which is their main attack, looked out of form in the last match. Rashid Khan, who is one of the best leg spinner, was very expensive in the previous match. He spent 110 runs in the only 9 overs.

* England took advantage of Afghanistan's weak bowling and putted a huge total of 397/6 in the first innings. In result, Afghanistan scored only 247/8 in the second innings and they lost by 150 runs.

* H Shahidi registered a brilliant half century with 76 runs while, Rahmat Shah and A Afghan scored 46 and 44 runs respectively.

* However, Afghanistan lost the last match, but their determination in batting was so good. They fought at the last moment and did not through their wickets unnecessary.

* They knew that the target of 398 runs was impossible for them to chase, but their aim was to play full fifty overs and they did that.

* Afghanistan did not win against India in the ODI match and as per current form of Team India, It will be almost impossible for Afghanistan to think about win against India on Saturday, 22 june.
