NEWS ANALYSIS

INDIA (IND)

- With an unbeaten record in six encounters so far, Virat Kohli's men are all but through to the Semi-final with 11 points but a win against England will further tighten their grip at the top.

- They won their last match against Windies by 125 runs.

- India putted 268/7 in the first innings. Skipper Virat Kohli played a brilliant innings of 72 runs. MS Dhoni, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya also scored 56, 48 and 46 runs respectively.

- Indian bowlers did very great job and bowled out the opponent for only 143 runs. Mohammad Shami picked up four wickets while, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal picked two wickets each.

- India's top order looked slightly weak in the last couple of matches. Both openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma did not provide a good start in the last two matches. Only Virat Kohli looked very consistent with four half centuries. However, Rohit is also in form with two centuries but his failure in the last two games created a gap in the top order because KL Rahul isn't in his prime form.

- The Wicket of Birmingham will be drier. Hence, the condition will be almost semi continental. So, India have a good opportunity to defeat the host.

- Plying two wrist spinners in this condition along with a lethal Jasprit Bumrah could well spell doom for an English side, which has fluffed its lines while chasing against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia.

- England, however, could take solace from the facts that they beat India 2-1 in the last bilateral series at home but an injured Bumrah did not feature in that series.

- India's middle order batting still remains a concern and Vijay Shankar's performance at number four certainly makes hid a weak link.

- Moreover, the team is winning handsomely so they have the right to continue with a winning combination.

- Player Stat

Rohit Sharma -338 runs
Virat Kohli -316 runs

Y Chahal - 10 Wickets
J Bumrah -9 Wickets
Mohammad Shami - 8 Wickets

* Injured/Unavailable:- None

* Virat Kohli will bat at No 03. He is one of the best batsmen in the World Cricket. He registered four half centuries in this tournament.

* Vijay Shankar will bat at No 04. He is a very good all rounder.

* Wicket Keeper MS Dhoni will bat at No 05. He is one of the best finishers of the World Cricket. He registered a vital half century in the previous match.

* Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya will be next batsmen at No 06 and 07. Hardik has played a couple of good innings in this tournament .

* Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Mohammad Shami will lead the pace attack along with V Shankar.

* Yuzi Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will lead the spin along with Kedar Jadhav.

ENGLAND (ENG)

- Tournament favourites England have bungled bit time in crucial games, which has now brought them at the verge of exit with only eight points from seven games. Now, their remaining both matches will be do or die for them to qualify into the semi finals.

- They lost their last match against Australia by 64 runs.

- They were given a target of 286 runs to win the match but they bowled out for only 221 runs. Ben Stokes was the top scorer for England with 89 runs. Except him, none of any batsman showed determination in batting. However, most batsmen likes of Jonny Bairstow (28), Jos Buttler (25) and Chris Woakes (26) got their start but could not capitalise into a big knock.

- Their bowlers did a good job and restricted the opponent for only 285 runs in the first innings. Chris Woakes picked up two wickets while, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali picked up One wicket each.

- Despite of very strong batting line ups, England lost its last couple of matches due to poor batting. In absence of injured Jason Roy, James Vince and Jonny Bairstow could not provide a good start so more pressure came on the other batsmen and they also could not bat very well. They need to perform collectively for the better result.

- It is indeed tragic that England's best ODI team in recent history with the likes of Captain Eoin Morgan, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer in their ranks are facing an imminent exit.

* England's record in chasing is not good . Hence, they may get in trouble against in the next match against India, if they will bat second.

* Jason Roy, who did not play the last two matches due to injure, may play this match in place of J Vince.

- Player Stat

Joe Root - 432 runs
Ben Stokes -291 runs
Eoin Morgan -274 runs

Jofra Archer -16 wickets
Mark Wood -13 Wickets

* Injured/Unavailable:- Jason Roy (Questionable)

* Key Players :- Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood

Eng Line Ups

* Jonny Bairstow and may be Jason Roy will open the batting. Both are very destructive batsmen and able to provide good start. Roy looked more dangerous in this tournament as comparison than Bairstow.

* Joe Root and Skipper Eoin Morgan will bat at No 03 and 04. Joe Root has been very sensational with bat in this tournament so far, while Eoin Morgan registered a huge century against Afghanistan.

* Ben Stokes, Joss Buttler and Moeen Ali will be next batsmen at No 05, 06 and 07. Ben Stokes is a good all rounder and scored three half centuries in this tournament. He is a very good medium pacer too and bowl 5-6 overs in every match. Jos Buttler is a hard hitter of ball and made much impact in this tournament so far.

* Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer will be next batsmen. Both are good batter in lower middle order.

* Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes will lead the pace attack.

* Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali will lead the spin.
