- After winning five matches in a row, India lost their last match against England by 31 runs. They have currently eleven points from seven matches and need to win at least one in their remaining two matches.
- India was given a target of 338 runs by England in the previous match but team India scored 306/5 in the second innings. India did not able to find early wicket of England for which the host putted a handy total. However, India's pacers especially Mohammad Shami controlled the English momentum and picked four wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and K Yadav picked one wicket each.
- First time, Indian spinners looked ineffective in the previous match because the pitch was too hard and covering with grass. This match will be playing in the same pitch.
- After missing injured Shikhar Dhawan, India failed to provide a good Start. Except the match against Pakistan, KL Rahul did not support Rohit Sharma to built a handy opening partnership. KL Rahul need to spent more time on the crease to score good otherwise extra pressure will be putted on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli again.
- Currently, India's batting line ups is the two men army. If Rohit and Virat score then India's batting looks better otherwise they looked to struggle for runs without both.
- India's middle order batting still remains a concern and their middle order was totally responsible to loss the previous match. Except Hardik Pandya, none of other middle order batsman looked in prime touch. MS Dhoni's slow strike rate is also a very serious concern and was one of the main reason to loss the last match.
- Moreover, the team won the first five matches handsomely before loosing the last match but will hope to get winning momentum again in this match.
- Vijay Shankar has suffered a toe injury while batting in the nets and is ruled out of the tournament. Mayank Agarwal is announced as his replacement.
